This week I’m editing like a mad thing. I’ve got the first eight chapters of Carrier II back from critique partner number one, the very lovely and fabulously talented writer Morgan Shamy . She’s been kicking my butt in her ever so amusing way, with little side notes that crack me up. I’ve one more chapter to do, and then, ding ding, we are onto round two.

Wendy

Round two comes courtesy of critique partner number two, Wendy Higgins. Wendy will be a name to be reckoned with in the near future, but for now she is all mine! Ha! By the time I’ve been through her edits and remarks, the manuscript should be looking good enough to let it loose on my next beta reader for round three.

Jennifer

Round three comes from the awesomely brilliant Jennifer L Armentrout, author of the sizzling Half-Blood. It’s definitely one of my favorite reads so far this year, so keep your eyes out for it when it hits the shelves on September 15th. Jennifer will beta read it and tell me how marvelous I am (You better be reading this Jennifer, I need a bit of pandering at the moment). She has an amazing sizzlometer and will make sure that there is enough heart fluttering moments. Then, we’re onto round four.

Jenny (the one with the tights)

Round four is perhaps the scariest of them all. My sister… Jennifer, the photographer (not to be confused with round three Jennifer, the writer). Jenny will tell me if it works. If I don’t get the pass from Jenny, it’s back to the drawing board, but in good old sisterly fashion, next time I see her, I’ll steal her makeup and rip her tights. All is fair in love and sisterhood.  So, hopefully by this time next week, I’ll be smiling, I’ll have a manuscript to send to my agent, and my sister will have tights without ladders.

Monday Morning Bits And Bobs Round Up.

This week has the makings a very fine one indeed.  On Friday, my very gorgeous editor informed me that The Carrier of the Mark galleys had arrived in her office, and that she would be sending me out mine!!  I can’t wait to get them. Eeeeek.

 I know a lot of you guys want them too, but I only get a few, so I won’t be able to dish out my own private stash.  But here’s what you can do. 

If you’re a blogger or reviewer, you can email me a request for an ARC leigh@leighfallon.com.  Just be sure to include your name, email address, blog address / publication name, and an approximate number of followers / readership.  I’ll pass all ARC requests onto HarperTeen who will be giving them out.

For those of you who don’t get an ARC I’ll be doing a few comps on my blog.  Just make sure you follow me so you can get the lowdown on them as soon as they are announced.

In other news, I’m nearly finished the sequel to The Carrier of the Mark.  I’m doing a serious writeathon this week in a bid to get the first draft completed.  Wish me luck.  Oh and its Bologna week.  All the literary agents and publishers are having a book fest where the rights to books are being bought and sold like hot potatoes.  I need you guys to send all your good karma to Italy, The Carrier of the Mark has sold to Poland and Italy so far, lets karamize it to get some more sales. Woohoo!

And the last thing on my agenda for this post is of course to announce the winner of my TEETH competition.  Yes, it was as toughie and only six people got the answers right.  I wrote those names down on post it and numbered them at random, and then got twitter to pick a number between 1 and 6 and the winning number was 4 which meant Clouse Ever won. Yay! Congratulations Clouse!

The Monday Morning Bits and Bobs Round Up

Hello all!  I hope you had a marvelous weekend and that Monday sees you well rested and in fighting form. 

There’s a few things going on this week that are worthy of a spot on the Monday Morning Bits & Bobs Round Up.  Firstly, my first every super-duper ARC comp is up and running.  There have been some amazing entries submitted.  Props range from potatoes to sparkly vampires, and the locations are getting more and more beautiful.  If you haven’t entered yet, what on earth is stopping you? This weekend I’m off to the book launch of Clarity by Kim Harrington.  It’s at Tatnuck Booksellers, Westborough, MA on Saturday, March 5 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, if you in the area, pop in and say hi. 

Then on Sunday I’m off to Ireland to say hi to my new nephew/niece, and enjoy a five day whirlwind visit filled with fun and frolics, on the emerald isle.  So that means next week’s blog posts will be coming to you from across the Atlantic, so the times might be a little skewie.

Monday Morning Bits & Bobs Roundup - The Madness Continues

I've just had the craziest three days of my life.  On Friday, the HarperCollins press release went out, announcing the publishing deal for The Carrier of the Mark.  That Friday, I got a fab piece written on me in the New York Times... GAH! Yeah, The New York Times.

But that was not the end of it.  On Saturday I had a one third page spread written on me, complete with huge pictures, in The Irish Examiner.

Then on Sunday, an even bigger half page spread appeared in The Sunday Times (get a load of that humongous picture... it's actually a little embarrassing).

In between dying of embarrassment over these amazing press articles, I've been on Facebook, Twitter, inkpop, Goodreads etc .etc. Thanking everyone for all their kind words of encouragement.  I've also been inundated with interview requests, so I"m spending a lot of time typing up my replies (If you're waiting on one, I'll have it back to you super quick...promise).  Even as I type this, I'm expecting a call from NUI Galway (National University of Ireland) who are doing a radio interview with me!! I say again... GAH!

Thank you everyone who has supported me and The Carrier of the Mark, I wouldn't have been able to do it without you guys.  You're just the best.
